Wishes Granted

wish...for my own TV and an X-Box!

Malachi is 10 years old and loves to play outdoors. Unfortunately his condition, neurofibromatosis makes him very sensitive to the heat forcing him inside during the long hot days of summer. He wished for his own TV and game playing system. Here he is playing one of the games he received. He was very excited and intent on winning!

I wish....for an entertainment center!

Matthew is constantly in and out of the hospital and doesn't have a lot to do while he is "down". One of his passions is horseback riding and when he is feeling well, you can bet you'll find him outside with the horses. When he's inside and not feeling well, he'd like something to keep him busy and entertained. Which is why he wished for a media center!

I wish.....to go to Disneywrld!

Evett suffered with congested heart failure and kidney failure and had experienced two transplants by the time she was 9 years old. When we met her she was very sure of her wish. She wished to go to Disneyworld, not Disneyland as, "I have plans to see Orlando." Thanks to a generous anonymous donor Evett celebrated her 13th birthday at Give Kids the World with her mom, dad, older sister and her two children.

I wish......to go bye-bye!

Cole was born with Peirre Robin syndrome. He has a compromised airway requiring a trach, has a G-tube for feeding, and requires wheelchair transport. . He also has congenital scoliosis, developmental delays and is non-verbal. His mom knew exactly what he would wish for if he could speak. He'd like to go bye-bye with the family more often. The wish was a carrier for the family vehicle that would make transporting . Thanks to the Rotary Club of Moses Lake he can go for family outings.

I wish...to go to Universal Studios!

No tumor was going to stop Seth. He wanted to visit Universal Studios and Disneyland, and knew it from the start of his wish visit. Seth, age six, was flown to California with his parents and siblings, shuttled to their hotel and spent the next few days touching (literally and emotionally) everything they could throughout the different parks. Seth’s smile lit up every attraction and gave his family lifelong memories.

I wish....to go bye bye!

Anna Marie had no idea she was getting a wish. She was born with cerebral palsy and at 3 years old her ride has improved. Cerebral palsy means she cannot walk or sit on her own restricting Anna Marie to a wheelchair. This family has had many struggles with accommodating her wheelchair for transportation and their wish was granted for an electric lift for their vehicle. Her only experience with electric lifts had been riding the school bus and it was the highlight of her day. The new lift gives Anna Marie the chance she deserves to easily go for a ride with her family and see the world with her own beautiful eyes.

I wish...to meet the Jonas Brothers!

The Jonas Brothers are a major sensation to Victoria, and meeting them was her wish. She flew to San Diego to see the concert and was welcomed with VIP passes. But who goes to San Diego and doesn’t visit the zoo? Not Victoria. She also spent a day looking at the variety of animals and smiling the whole time. They finished the wish trip with a look at the dolphins at SeaWorld. Jonas Brothers, San Diego zoo, and SeaWorld, what more could a girl ask for?

I wish.... to meet the Seahawks!

There are sports fans, and then there is Devin. He wanted to meet the Seattle Seahawks and Wishing Star made it happen. The family spent a fabulous weekend learning what football is about from the sidelines. “I got to meet Lofa,” Devin writes. “And I got to know and spend time with him…he gave me one of his game worn uniforms and he autographed it.” They met the head coach, Pete Carroll, and took pictures with various team members and cheerleaders. Devin was given an authentic jersey with his name on the back and had a memorable time watching his name be lit up in lights at the game saying “Happy Birthday Devin!”  “Thanks for my wish,” Devin writes. “I will never forget it.”

I wish...for a Smile Makeover!

16 year old Kira has suffered from Severe Anemia for a few years now. Due to the various medications she has had to take to control it her teeth have yellowed. Kira wished to have a smile makeover so she could smile without feeling self-conscious or feeling like she couldn't have a big grin! So Dr. Schofield in Hayden, Idaho helped Kira have lumineers. Dr. Dance also donated a mouth guard so Kira could keep her new teeth like new! Right after Kira got her new smile she also received an entire makeover. After her haircut, massage, pedicure, manicure and makeup session she had her pictures taken so she could capture this once in a lifetime event.

I wish.....to meet Alice in Wonderland!

Wonderland is normally left to the imagination but Enecia experienced the real thing. At three years old, Enecia loves to watch Alice in Wonderland with her family. Recently diagnosed with Leukemia, she has lost her hair from chemotherapy and the sparkle in her eyes.  When wish conductors and family got together to grant Enecia her wish, they quickly decided that a trip to wonderland is exactly what she needed to get the sparkle back. Between wish volunteers, photographers, theatre actors, and a venue, almost 50 volunteers came together to show Enecia that wonderland really does exist.

I wish....to go crabbing on the Oregon Coast!

Eight year old Decker loves to watch Deadliest Catch and do anything that is adventurous. He doesn't let his cancer get in the way! So when he wished to go crabbing on the Oregon Coast, it was no surprise. Decker got to visit Portland and take a helicopter ride, visit the Children's Museum and the zoo. He also got a personal tour of the Newport Aquarium, the Tillamook Cheese Factory and ride the Sand Dunes in Newport. He fit right in with Captain Dennis with Bite Me Guide Tours in Newport, Oregon. He was a natural fisherman!

I wish...to meet Josh Turner!

McKenzie is a beautiful, vibrant young woman and you would never know she had Multiple Sclerosis. She always has a smile on her face and will light up any room. McKenzie is passionate about music and one of her favorite artists is Josh Turner. She loves his song "Why Don't We Just Dance". McKenzie got the surprise of her life when she got to travel to Utah to meet Josh and his lovely wife! She and her parents were also surprised with a hot air balloon ride while they were down there. Her smile in the picture says it all.

I wish...to be Jena's husband!

Randy was diagnosed with cancer when he was 18. For two years he has been battling this awful disease with his girlfriend right along side him. Randy wished to marry his girlfriend. A ring was donated and he proposed right away. Immediately work began on the wedding! After almost a year of planning and preparing, Jenna and Randy got married on the beach of the Oregon Coast. It was a beautiful ceremony with their closest friends and family. What a wish to remember...
