Beyond the Wish
Once a Wishing Star Child, Always a Wishing Star Child
Wishing Star makes the wish one of the most memorable times in a child’s life and continues to serve families after wishes are granted. In our Beyond the Wish Program, we provide tickets to sporting events, concerts and other recreational opportunities to wish families who struggle financially caring for medically fragile children. Once a child becomes a Wishing Star child, they are part of our family forever.
Check out Wish Family Events.
Gabe Keeps Busy
Gabe is waiting to be granted his wish soon. His wish is to go to Disneyland. While he
is waiting, he attends all kinds of Wishing Star Events. As you can see in the picture,
Gabe made a great goater as he helped with "Send a Friend a Goat" this year. He also
attended Silverwood's "Night of Stars" and the Jr. Lilac Parade. We love having Gabe
around!
Sari's Becoming a Wish Conductor

Sari, 19 with cerebral palsy, rode in a BMR NAPA ride car with NASCAR West Series driver Eric Holmes. “I told her to give me a thumbs up if she wanted to go faster,” said Holmes who was impressed with the young lady. “I started out taking it easy and I looked and she kept giving me the signal to go faster and faster. It was great to meet Sari. She’s a special girl.”
Holmes presented Sari with his second place trophy in Victory Lane. She’s a big fan and never misses the opportunity to watch the NASCAR West Series races on television. It’s been one of her dreams to attend a race.
Sari and her mother, Debbie, recently signed up to attend a Wish Conductor Training. She'd like to help grant another child's wish.
The House that Daniel Built

Daniel has Spastic Quadriplegia. He was referred to Wishing Star in the summer of 2004. Throughout the wish process, he became very close with Wishing Star volunteers and staff. He continues to interact with Wishing Star. He has attended many Beyond the Wish events including the Petting Zoo, Pottery Party and the Fall Festival party. Paula, Executive Director, asked Daniel to help with the ground breaking ceremony of the Lexington Home project for Wishing Star. His mom brought him out that very first time and Daniel continued to visit throughout the construction. Builders knew him by name and show him around the home. He even rode on one of their back hoes! Keeping in touch with Daniel has been fun for everyone and we will be sure to see him at many more events!

Randi Loves to Shop
Randi, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and FIT. Her wish was to go on a shopping spree
in stores such as JCPenny’s, Deb, Macy’s, Best Buy, Sears, Frullati Café and Bakery and
Chocolate Myracles Inc. She had such a wonderful time shopping through all these stores
in July, 2007. She was able to get herself plenty of new things. This past holiday
season Randi went shopping again. Only this time she spread holiday joy. Randi came to
Wishing Star and picked out special gifts for her family members from the Wishing
Star Christmas Store.
Tyson
This summer Tyson, with CP and Epilepsy, went to the Gravedigger Monster Truck Show.
Even before his wish, Tyson and his mom helped with the Send-a-Friend-a-Goat
fundraising event. Tyson had a blast playing with the goats and getting them to and from
specific locations. In August, Tyson attended the pottery party. He helped make bowls
for the Spokane Home Builder's Association annual auction and made a star ornament to
take home. We can’t wait to see Tyson at more Beyond the Wish events!
Holly is a Fan of the Arts

Seven year old Hollie's wish was to have a princess party. Her two wish conductors worked hard to see this wish a huge success!
Hollie received a beautiful princess dress, shoes and crown. She was whisked away after school one day to have her hair and nails done. She was then brought to her elementary school gymnasium where she was greeted by many of her peers. Many of the little girls were dressed up as princesses. They were all served cake and punch.
Christian Youth Theater surprised Hollie and her guests as five princesses who each sang a Disney Song. Then all the children lined up while each and every child got to pose with the princesses for a picture.
Hollie had the time of her life and will remain a princess at heart forever!
Every chance we get, Wishing Star provides Hollie with opportunities to enjoy the arts. She recently attended the Spokane Symphony and Stars on Ice through donated tickets.
Katlyn Receives Complimentary Tickets to Stars On Ice

Eight year old, Katlyn, has cystic fibrosis. She loves Disney princesses, all Disney movies and her favorite book is “Disney Enchanted and Charming Tales”. We just had to send her to Disneyland! Last summer while at Disneyland, Katlyn’s favorite part was when she met Cinderella. Her mom said that Katlyn was speechless and didn’t know what to say because she was so in awe. Her mom was sure to get pictures. After the family returned home, we got to see Katlyn at a wish family event and when asked about the granted wish, her eyes lit up. It is a wish she will never forget!
In January, Katlyn and her family attended Stars on Ice at the Arena, with complimentary tickets donated to Wishing Star Foundation.
